Classroom Corner, Week of May 12-16

Religion - This week, the 5th graders are talking about vocations, and the 6th graders are talking about types of prayer.  FINAL CHAPTER TESTS THIS WEEK!
6th grade--> TEST THURS.
5th grade--> TEST FRI.
Unit tests next week!


Social Studies - The 6th graders are still reading about ancient Roman history including the rise of Christianity and the fall of the Roman empire.  Test next week!
The 5th graders are talking about the Second Continental Congress and the beginning of the Revolutionary War.  Open book test on Friday.


Language Arts - Last week of spelling!  Our words come from "struct" meaning "build". 
6th grade--> TEST THURS.
5th grade--> TEST FRI.
We are also finishing up on our study of verbs.  We will soon move on to adverbs. 


Reading - We are starting to discuss narrative point of view.  We have a good head-start because we have been talking about point of view when it comes to sentences, specifically identifying 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person pronouns.


6th grade trip to Put-In-Bay and Nagoya on Friday!


There will be a substitute teacher here for 5th grade!

Classroom Corner, Week of May 5-9

Religion - The 5th graders are reading about the virtues, and the 6th graders are reading about Jesus in the Temple and the prophet Jonah.  Tests for both on Friday.
End of the year countdown- 1 more chapter test and one unit test!!


Social Studies - The 6th graders are reading about ancient Roman history including geography, leaders, and life in ancient Rome.  The 5th graders are reading about the beginnings of the American Revolution including the French and Indian War and the colonists speaking out against Britain.


Language Arts- The 5th graders are finishing up their writing competencies, and the 6th graders are writing letters to all of their former teachers here at St. Mary in preparation for their upcoming graduation.  Our spelling words come from "tract" meaning "pull" - test on Friday.  We will also start verbs this week!
End of the year countdown- 1 more spelling list after this week!


FIELD TRIP- Romp's Dairy Dock on Friday.
