Classroom Corner Week of Sept. 15th

6th Grade

Religion- This week, we will be talking about the Eucharistic sacrifice.  Please make sure your students studies their 5 religion spelling words for the quiz on Friday.

Social Studies- We are wrapping up Chapter 1 by studying parallel time lines and Lesson 3 about developing cultures.  The students will have a vocab and chapter review due on Monday to prepare for Jeopardy and a test next week.

Health- The students will play Jeopardy to review for their test over SUN SAFETY next week.  Also, we will have a visitor on Thursday who will talk to us about the harmful effects of cataracts, which can be caused from the sun.  Students should be studying their notes Monday and Tuesday for Jeopardy- the winners earn 10 bonus points on their test!

Language Arts- The students have a sensory essay due on Wednesday.  On Wednesday, I will read the 5th graders' essays, and our class will have the chance to guess where the 5th graders visited based on sensory clues from the essay.  We will also review capitalization rules 1-5 including how to mark titles of books, poems, songs, etc.

Reading- We are continuing to read our novel Paint by Magic.  Ask your student what has happened so far in our story.  I also reminded the  class that September is half over, so they should be working towards finishing their book projects and AR goals! (due Sept. 30th - Tues.)

5th Grade

Language Arts- The students have a sensory essay due on Wednesday.  On Wednesday, I will read the 6th graders' essays, and the class will have the chance to guess where the 6th graders visited based on sensory clues from the essay.  We will also take notes on capitalization rules 1-5 including how to mark titles of books, poems, songs, etc.  The students will have practice sheets for homework.

Reading-We are continuing to read our novel Summer of the Swans.  Ask your student what has happened so far in our story.  I also reminded the  class that September is half over, so they should be working towards finishing their book projects and AR goals! (due Sept. 30th - Tues.)
